Services

Write Image Communications provides services for both businesses and individuals.

Business clients can benefit from using an editor to review manuals, annual reports and correspondence. Individuals can use Write Image’s services to help create resumes and cover letters, or for assistance in preparing work documents where an extra set of eyes is critical to its success.

Turnaround times

Turnaround times vary depending on type and length of project, but typically documents can be edited within 72 hours. For an additional fee, same-day turnaround is possible.

Editing & Proofreading

The words proofreading and copy-editing are often used interchangeably but they are two very different roles.

Proofreading

Proofreading involves checking text for errors, sometimes against an original document. For instance, when a long list of numbers is manually typed, a proofreader will ensure the numbers were typed correctly and not transposed, comparing the output with the original document.

Copy Editing

The role of a copy editor is to ensure copy is clear, correct, concise, comprehensible and consistent. This involves correcting spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors; ensuring the copy adheres to any style guidelines; and examining the design and layout for consistency and any roadblocks to easy reading.

A copy editor may perform minor rewrites and suggest wording changes to improve the text. However, extensive rewriting is billed at a higher rate.

Documents for copy editing can be submitted electronically via a Word file (and edits will be made to the file and highlighted in red and e-mailed back) or in a PDF file. If a PDF is submitted, the document will be printed out and text changes will be written on the hard copy (red pen for definite changes, pencil marksfor suggestions and queries). Depending on the size of the PDF, it will be returned via a scanned image or the hard copy will be dropped off or mailed.

Also, Write Image can edit your existing Web site, pointing out spelling and grammatical errors and making suggestions how to make your site’s content more compelling and readable.

Writing

Write Image is able to help you create content for your Web site. Using existing company information and that gleaned from interviews with key players, we can create compelling Web content to help you publicize your company and give you a positive presence on the Internet.

Style Guides

Write Image can help your company create an editorial style guide for use by everyone in the company when creating letters, publications and documents. This ensures content is consistent. The style guide can be as simple as a few-page list of rules to follow (use of serial comma, spelling preferences and commonly used abbreviations); more in-depth style guides can be more than 100 pages in length and include detailed entries with grammar rules, appendices with lists of acronyms, commonly misspelled words, company locations and addresses, and a department listing. View a sample style guide.

No matter what length, a style guide is an invaluable tool to make sure everyone is on the same page and adhering to well-thought-out style decisions.

Write Image will thoroughly comb through your firm’s various brochures, print materials and other documents to create a list of style points—while also pointing out inconsistencies and areas where a style decision needs to be made.

Newsletters

Would your company or group benefit by having a newsletter? Write Image has created monthly classroom newsletters for parents at a local daycare center. It also produces a monthly newsletter for the more than 300 volunteers at Ridgeview Medical Center. Newsletters can vary in length from one page to 10 or more.
